Dormie Network's Briggs Ranch debuts new green complexes, casitas and Truck Stop mobile bar
By Brad King
Briggs Ranch showcases the Texas Hill Country. Covering more than 260 rolling acres, this Tom Fazio-designed gem located just a half hour from downtown San Antonio makes the most of its rolling terrain. Briggs Ranch is a sprawling design that is interesting, yet friendly enough to play every day.
Briggs Ranch is part of Dormie Network, a private membership experience that offers pure golf at destinations across the country, challenging the traditional country club model. Encouraging travel and camaraderie in an exclusive yet comfortable atmosphere, where every club is a member's home club, Dormie Network is renowned for seasonal chef-prepared cuisine, specialty cocktails, sommelier-chosen wine and deluxe en-suite accommodations.
Under a single dues structure, membership provides full access to each club so no matter where they live, Dormie Network members always have access to a course with ideal golf weather.
As Dormie Network's southern-most destination, Briggs Ranch boasts milder winter temperatures with highs averaging in the mid-60s through February. Epitomizing understated Texas, Briggs Ranch exudes a laidback yet upscale environment. Dormie Network's philosophy is that members and their guests enjoy pure golf at their own, relaxed pace. With 18 daily tee times and 72 daily players, 15-minute tee times make the course feel like each foursome's own on this Fazio design is consistently ranked among the country's Best Modern Courses, as well as the Best of Texas.
Demonstrating its commitment to on-going capital improvements that boost member value, Dormie Network's agricultural team spent the summer restoring Fazio's putting surfaces back to their former glory and original size - more than twice what they had shrunk to since the course's 2001 debut - replacing the heat-sensitive bent grass with lush TifEagle Bermuda turf that provides a sustainable, high-quality putting surface year-round. The project has improved the golf experience while also promoting sustainability.
Also new at Briggs Ranch is the "Truck Stop," a mobile bar experience made from an old truck, with beer on tap and plenty of fixings for cocktails. The Truck Stop is generally located near the first tee, helping get a golfer's round started on the right foot. In addition, Dormie Network features fully stocked golf shops at each location with your favorite equipment brands and collectible club-logoed apparel and accessories. Club fittings, personal shopping, custom orders, corporate merchandising, casita gifts for your stay, and bulk order discounts are available.
Briggs Ranch members enjoy home club access to all Dormie Network clubs, which also include:
- ArborLinks in Nebraska City, Nebraska - about 40 miles south of Omaha
- Ballyhack in Roanoke, Virginia
- Dormie Club just outside of Pinehurst, North Carolina
- Hidden Creek in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey - 20 miles west of Atlantic City
- Victoria National in Newburgh, Indiana - 15 miles east of Evansville
In addition, Dormie Network members are also anxiously anticipating an all-new, pure golf destination club in the Nebraska Sandhills called GrayBull. The course is currently being constructed from the ground up by master architect David McLay Kidd, with a projected open date of fall 2024.
With Dormie Network's private golf clubs across the country, members and their guests are treated to a consistent level of service and quality while experiencing the best of each unique geographical area. The distinctively Texan clubhouse at Briggs Ranch is replete with Spanish-style tiling and terra-cotta roof, and offers a variety of dining and meeting spaces to suit parties of all sizes. After golf at Briggs Ranch, guests have dinner and drinks waiting at the clubhouse, or they just roll down the path to their home away from home to savor the executive chef-prepared cuisine, handcrafted specialty cocktails and luxury onsite lodging.
The third round of casitas at Briggs Ranch is now complete. Nestled into the tree line to the left of the first hole, the casitas are styled with classic Southwestern accents. There are 15 four-bedroom casitas on site with master suites, a fully stocked bar, fireplace and lounge in the common area, and a private, walkout patio on which to relax around the firepit, making Briggs Ranch the perfect spot for teambuilding, family time, or a private retreat.
In the casitas, guests enjoy private dining of inspired cuisine, featuring network specialties or unique dishes created just to your liking. The Briggs Ranch culinary team is happy to help craft custom dishes and drinks to be enjoyed at the clubhouse, in a private dining space, or at the casita.
Dormie Network's regionally influenced menus capture the essence of each unique club. At Briggs Ranch, farm-to-table menus with a Texas flair await, such as refreshing blackened scallop red corn tacos or member-favorite pork barbacoa enchiladas. Tex-Mex influence weaves throughout Briggs Ranch's menu with spice at the forefront. Briggs Ranch is also home to Chef's Table, a private interactive dining experience perfect for private business meetings, date nights, and groups celebrating special occasions. Chef Josh Reeves and his culinary team walk guests through this eight-course culinary journey, describing the inspiration and ingredients used behind each dish.
Briggs Ranch is accepting prospective members for stay-and-play discovery visits this fall and winter. Members and prospects alike have access to our private travel partners, so there's no need to fly commercial. A concierge will book the entire trip for you, from start to finish. To book your discovery visit and see the Dormie Network experience for yourself, inquire about membership. If you decide to join the network following your stay, all fees will be applied to your membership initiation deposit.
